This is Snoqualmie Falls during the winter. It can flow even less than this, but the previous couple of days were sunny and melted a bit of the snow. In the spring, this is roaring and the mist is so strong sometimes it makes it hard to see the bottom. In summer, it is a decent strong flow. This has been harnessed for hydropower {you can see some of the buildings and stuff by the river}. The tiny cave at bottom right is the maintainance entrance for some of the stuff. There is a REALLY nice lodge/inn on top of the cliff to the left of the falls. Very expensive to spend the night. There is a path {currently closed due to winter rains} that leds to an observation deck at the bottom. People climb out and around it and up to the falls all the time. Technically not supposed to, but how you supposed to have a good view of the falls from below from halfway around a bend w/ about 50 sweaty bodies around? The hike down is easy....hiking back UP is tiring....very steap paths. This picture taken from the main obs deck up near the lodge.
We decided to do a family photo after I took this, so I set the camera up w/ the timer. Ran over to them and my cell phone decided to fly out of my pocket and go cliff diving. I looked away at first bounce; my husband said it exploded into lots of tiny pieces. We now have a photo of me looking towards camera with a really big "Oh, shit....." look on my face and my hubby, daughter and my friend are looking over the rail and watching my phone die. >< What a crappy way to end such a wonderful day ><
